Suzanne Wilburn Tower was born in Baltimore, Maryland, and moved to Orlando, Florida when her father changed jobs in the Glenn L. Martin Company, She graduated from high school in Orlando, then went to the University of South Florida and graduated with a BA in accounting in 1973. She had worked some quarters as a co-op student at the Naval Air Rework Facility on the Naval Air Station Jacksonville, and she was hired there full-time in 1973. She worked there all but one year until her retirement on April 1, 2005.
Suzanne belonged to many organizations over the years, usually serving as an officer: International Toastmistress Clubs, the American Society of Military Comptrollers, the Navy Management Association, the Port of Jacksonville Pilot Club, then the Pilot Club of Orange Park, the Florida Aero Club (general aviation enthusiasts), the National Active and Retired Federal Employees Chapter 1414 Clay County, and finally the Shepherd’s Center of Orange Park, which is her love now. Suzanne served six years on the board, then was off one year, then is serving another two terms of six years.
She has also served as a poll worker during election cycles for ten years, and has donated the equivalent of 62 gallons of blood. Suzanne, with her husband George, square dance weekly at the Moose Promenaders Square Dance Club.
